FOUNDATIONS OF OUR ORGANIZATION
Introduction
"Paredes Rayadas” emerges, initially, as an organization to respond to the marginalization and deprivation of the artistic practice called "Grafitti", and is subsequently formed as a project for the generation of actions aimed at social participation and integration; in the same way, to provide support for proposals where different social problems are worked before the recognition of the realities that are lived, where the search for a desired and agreed social image that benefits collectively is sought.
Also, continuing with its beginnings, allows you to explore the new ways of doing graffiti; in that sense, it finds openings to resignify it through differentiated perspectives. Given this, the need arises to emphasize the right to freedom of expression as a way of claiming this artistic practice against the normativity that co-opts and stigmatizes. Moreover, one of its fundamental axes of work becomes the defense of the aforementioned right.
Background
"Paredes Rayadas" has its origin in 2011 thanks to the ideas related to the development of graffiti and its high impact within the streets and communities in the last ten years globally. Being this a very common art (one of the artistic elements used as a means of expression within the Hip Hop culture) and being part of the most pointed out media and persecuted by the community in general, and the authorities worldwide. Currently, graffiti, being an art and a method of free expression communication linked to vandalism, is perceived demoralized in all aspects. Therefore, it was essential to carry out the foundation of the organizational project indicated in the first line.
With the above in mind, today, the artistic practice of graffiti becomes a freedom of expression that will undoubtedly continue to advance and grow throughout the world until it becomes an effective means of social communication like some print media; even, as some digital media (in a contemporary sense), television, radio, etc. have been, for the fact of being permanently linked to social problems within the social centers most affected by the lack of competent authority and being within reach of all and all; in the same way, for being a practice imbricated to youth cultures and their artistic expressions. Therefore, the lines described above allowed us to build a look towards graffiti from a panorama of values, social identity and self-identity of its producers, freedom of expression and communities of practice.
Lines of work of the organization
Within the lines of work of the organization are: defense of freedom of expression, socio-cultural management and collaborative work networks and social development campaigns.
Defense of freedom of expression . Is a Brieron "spaces for free expression" to strengthen our organizational capacity as a society and share a resignificadora look at how to intervene public spaces for the realization of the grafitti. In addition to opening adequate communication channels to integrate society in a responsible manner without leaving aside any immediate or long-term need in the communities that require it. What we do is ask for a fence (foreign property of a community member) under a free loan (loan agreement), so that it is used as a "free expression space". Subsequently, the white wall is continued to be painted to establish the necessary conditions and proper use by the graphic artists of the community (who attend a credentialing process with which the interested parties are certified as "responsible urban artists ": with this credential you can make free use of the free expression spaces in a responsible and organized way).
Socio-cultural management and collaborative work networks. They consider that there are political-administrative problems where citizens experience different difficulties in asserting their rights or, rather, accessing them: what represents the decrease of their participation in social transformation actions in the face of the different social realities imbricated to local and structural problems of the place where they reside. In that sense, the civil organization plays an important role for the management of different projects - with a specific agenda - that seek to aspire to the desired social image, working from, for and with citizens, in a collective benefit.
Therefore, we consider that citizen participation and social responsibility, exercised by each person, is essential to carry out decision making and succeed in integral and collective solutions that promote improvements in society and the environment. All this, supported by the recognition of rights and responsibilities as members of society. Thus, it is based on the idea of enforcing and disseminating the human rights, cultural rights and the individual guarantees that exist, together with a collective work that promotes social equity and equality.
Social development campaigns Currently, our organization provides various services and products in a free and responsible way; Of course, this would not be possible without the support and collaboration of the people involved in them. In addition, we are dedicated to attending institutions, organizations and companies belonging to the public and private sector. On the other hand, we have a campaign called " ALMOST ", which is a tool to generate social integrity and promote development.
In this campaign - which is done annually in more than one hundred colonies of the CDMX and Edomex - the population is informed about the activities of the "Striped Walls" project, health centers, institutions, government agencies, civil organizations, groups, artists, musicians, writers, athletes, and more, to encourage the full exercise of all rights and strengthen the responsibilities we have with ourselves, as well as with each other and under the context and environment in which they develop : fostering, at all times, an inclusive and prosperous culture.
We rely on the distribution of information and benefits that are granted free of charge, in more than 8,000 strategic points, to encourage development and participation, delivering printed leaflets, condoms, oral serum, dewormers and supplies in general; In addition to food, services of all kinds, free products, promotions, discounts and a host of other benefits.
